Nolpaza contains pantoprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to treat GERD, gastric ulcers, duodenal ulcers, and prevent NSAID-induced ulcers. Effective acid reflux and heartburn relief.
Nolpaza is an over-the-counter medication that contains pantoprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) designed to reduce stomach acid production. By targeting the proton pumps in the stomach lining, Nolpaza helps to treat a variety of acid-related conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), gastric ulcers, and duodenal ulcers. It’s also used to prevent gastric ulcers induced by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and to manage conditions like Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
Each tablet of Nolpaza contains 40 mg of pantoprazole, which effectively blocks the proton pump in the stomach, reducing the production of gastric acid. Pantoprazole specifically inhibits the final step in acid production within the parietal cells of the stomach, providing long-lasting relief from acid-related symptoms and conditions.
Intended Use:
- Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD): Nolpaza provides relief from the symptoms of GERD, including heartburn and acid regurgitation, and promotes the healing of erosive esophagitis caused by stomach acid.
- Peptic Ulcers: Effective in the treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers, helping to heal the lining of the stomach and intestines and reduce the likelihood of recurrence.
- Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: A rare condition characterized by excess gastric acid production, Nolpaza can help control and reduce acid levels in these patients.
- NSAID-Induced Ulcers: Prevents the development of gastric ulcers in individuals taking NSAIDs for pain management, especially those at high risk for stomach irritation.
- Helicobacter pylori Eradication: As part of a combination therapy with antibiotics, Nolpaza helps eradicate Helicobacter pylori, the bacteria associated with peptic ulcers.
The usual dose for adults is 1 tablet (40 mg) once daily, typically taken before meals.
The duration of treatment depends on the condition being treated - usually taking 4-8 weeks for healing and symptom relief.
Nolpaza should be swallowed whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the tablet.
Mild side effects may include headache, nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and flatulence. Less common side effects: dizziness, fatigue, and joint pain. Although rare, some patients may experience more severe effects such as liver problems (jaundice, dark urine), severe abdominal pain, or allergic reactions.
Long-term use of pantoprazole may increase the risk of bone fractures, kidney problems, and vitamin B12 deficiency.
Contraindications:
- Allergy to Pantoprazole: Nolpaza should not be used in individuals who are allergic to pantoprazole or any of its ingredients.
- Severe Liver Disease: Caution is required when using Nolpaza in patients with severe liver disease.
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Nolpaza is generally not recommended during pregnancy and should only be used if the benefits outweigh the risks. Consult a doctor before using it during breastfeeding.
Storage Conditions: Store Nolpaza tablets at room temperature (15-25°C), away from moisture and heat. Keep out of reach of children.
Nolpaza is an effective solution for treating and managing acid-related conditions such as GERD, gastric ulcers, and duodenal ulcers, helping reduce stomach acid production and promote healing. Always follow the prescribed dosage and consult your healthcare provider for the best treatment plan.
